Installation
Crews set the columns in augered holes with standard post-frame methods. There is no concrete truck for the posts and no cure time before framing. Use the same footing your plans call for under a wood column. The hangar floor pours against concrete columns instead of wood.
Options for wind and depth
- Uplift anchors bolt to the base of the column. Use them beside the hangar door and wherever your engineer calls for them.
- Column extenders attach to the base when the design needs more embedment. Concrete poured around the extender forms a combined footing and uplift anchor.

Common Questions
Will the airport or county accept it? The ICC-ES report shows code compliance, which gives quicker permits and approvals.
Will my engineer accept it? Send them the ICC-ES report and our design guide with calculations. Both are free to download.
My hangar plans show a slab or stem wall. What do I use? Sturdi-Wall® brackets anchor wood columns to the top of the concrete. We supply those too.
How heavy are the columns? 165 to 345 pounds each, depending on the model. Most crews set them with a skid steer or loader.
Can it repair an older hangar? Yes. Rotted posts can be cut off and set on new precast columns.
